The Problem.
So I thought the conditions were ripe for a dramatic sunset recently. I grabbed my camera and tripod, and headed out to shoot in Keyport, which has the advantage of being on the water. Water reflections are always a welcome element in a photo. Sadly, the sun went behind a bank of clouds at the horizon, pretty much killing the light. I did manage to grab a few decent frames, but I felt they were kinda dull. Here’s the out-of-camera shot:
Lightroom to the Rescue
I should mention that I had shot with a tungsten white balance, which meant the photo had a slightly cooler tone to it, killing the warm-toned sky. Enter Lightroom, and it’s awesome tools for enhancing a photo. The white balance issue was easily fixed, and additionally I was able to bring out more dramatic color and detail with Lightroom. Lightroom is the perfect tool for enhancing a photo, especially when shooting RAW, which of course you are aleady doing right? 😉 Here’s where I wound up:
