Create a Floor with The Vanishing Point Filter in Photoshop

I wanted to create a tile floor that was highly reflective. I wasn’t even thinking about using the Vanishing Point Filter. However, after repeated failures, I decided the give the Vanishing Point Filter a try. Here’s the result:

I was pretty surprised at how much easier it became to create a floor with the proper perspective and angle using this filter. Sure, you could get something similar using the “perspective” command inside of Free Transform, but the results wouldn’t be as accurate or believable. The Vanishing Point Filter is more than a gimmick; it’s a useful tool! Sadly, the UI for this filter leaves a lot to be desired, so I thought I’d make a video explaining how to best use it:
