Quick Selection and Refine Edge in PSE 12

OK, this is the THIRD time I’m wrangling this silly photo of an old-timey watch! But THIS time thanks to the power of the Quick Selection Tool and Refine Edge in Photoshop, and starting with Photoshop Elements 11 as well, things go much smoother and faster, and the result will be better!

Photoshop Elements 12 vs Photoshop CC

Which should you get?

Photoshop Elements 12 (PSE), or Photoshop CC (PS)? Adobe is now offering Photoshop CC and Lightroom 5 for @ $10/mo. That makes Photoshop affordable. It makes the decision as to which way to go much more difficult.

Fix A Seamless Backdrop in PS or PSE

It’s been a while since I made a video about Photoshop techniques. I did a shoot recently using a white vinyl seamless background, and it had lots of folds, creases, and even dirt. I easily fixed all of it using Photoshop, as well as some other little fixes that my client requested. The cool thing is, even though I used Photoshop CC for this video, virtually everything here can be done in Photoshop Elements 9 or above!

The thing is, this technique is really easy to do. I didn’t make it up, it’s widely known and used by many Photoshop users, both pro and amateur. It’s just fun to both shoot and then assemble in Photoshop (or Elements 9 and above). (more…)
