This video is a continuation of an earlier one in which I demonstrated techniques that could be performed in both Photoshop CC and Elements 12. this video is about cool techniques that are unique to Photoshop.
Focal Length, Aperture and BOKEH
Geeking Out
For any given scene, varying the focal length yields different perceived foreground / background distance, even though the actual distance remains the same. I was curious to see if varying the focal length would affect the amount of background blur, known as BOKEH. I created a tutorial video to demonstrate the test and show the results:
Quick Selection and Refine Edge in PSE 12
OK, this is the THIRD time I’m wrangling this silly photo of an old-timey watch! But THIS time thanks to the power of the Quick Selection Tool and Refine Edge in Photoshop, and starting with Photoshop Elements 11 as well, things go much smoother and faster, and the result will be better!
I’m Glad I Take Crappy Photos
Making Crappy Photos Is Better Than Making None
I’ve been going through this depressing period in my photography where I just don’t feel like shooting anything. I didn’t really know why, but it was really bothering me. Somehow I SHOULD always be ready to shoot stuff, no matter what…except I didn’t even want to LOOK at my camera.
Photoshop Elements 12 vs Photoshop CC
Which should you get?
Photoshop Elements 12 (PSE), or Photoshop CC (PS)? Adobe is now offering Photoshop CC and Lightroom 5 for @ $10/mo. That makes Photoshop affordable. It makes the decision as to which way to go much more difficult.
