Macro Photography Part 2

After my last video on macro photography I went back and shot in my garden again, this time getting a larger Depth of Field at f/32! I was able to get much closer to what I wanted this time. In order to get enough light at f/32 and a reasonably fast shutter speed hand-held, I had to use an off-camera flash triggered via a radio trigger. The idea is to balance flash output with ambient exposure. Check out the video below:

Macro Photography and Depth of Field

In this video I shoot flowers in my garden to help illustrate how important awareness of Depth of Field is in Macro Photography. Novice macro shooters invariably create images in which the depth of field is too narrow, which is easy to do given that a short focusing distance yields a narrow depth of field at any f-stop setting! The problem is that when you stop down the aperture you also drastically alter the exposure. This tutorial also includes a few Lightroom techniques, for those of you so inclined:

Real-World Photoshop

I used a real-world situation whereby I had to alter a photo for a client. I know it’s rather long, but there was a lot of work using the Clone Stamp tool involved. Everything I did in this video is 100% doable in Photoshop Elements 11 or 12! Check out the video for more:

What to Bring When Traveling

I recently went on vacation to Paris and some locations outside of the city. I brought 2 completely different camera systems in order to see for myself which one was better suited for travel.
